NN Online:
Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam on Sunday asserted that the evidence against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the July-August mass uprising case is so “clear and compelling” that the trial will leave no room for doubt.

As the prosecution began its formal opening statement before International Crimes Tribunal-1, Tajul Islam laid out the investigation findings and outlined the major charges related to alleged crimes against humanity committed during the uprising.

“The evidence of Sheikh Hasina’s involvement in suppressing the July uprising is so strong and explicit that there will not be the slightest doubt throughout the trial,” Tajul told the tribunal.

The high-profile case also involves two other accused, alongside the former prime minister.

The three-member tribunal is headed by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumder, with Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury serving as members.

Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman, prosecution officials, members of the investigation agency, and a large contingent of journalists were present in the courtroom during the statement.

The tribunal session was broadcast live on Bangladesh Television and streamed via its official Facebook page, drawing wide public attention.
