‘July revolution photos to be testimony to history’
Chattogram Bureau :
‘People may forget the bullet-riddled photos of martyr Abu Sayeed at some point, but these photos will remind history’, said Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain.
He spoke as the chief guest at the inauguration of a three-day photo exhibition titled ‘July Revolution on Camera’ at the VIP Lounge of the Chittagong Press Club on Saturday.
Mayor said, ‘We call July-August a 36-day revolution. But the disappearances, murders, and extrajudicial killings that took place during this period are not just 36 days but a history of 16 years of torture. It would be an injustice to forget the martyrs during that time.’ Bangladesh Photojournalist Association President AKM Mohsin also spoke at the event.
He said, ‘We have deep respect for those who were martyred in the fight to establish democracy. In the last 15 and a half years, many people have lost their lives due to disappearances, murders, and political torture. The July Revolution was a roar against that injustice.’
