Boxer Zinnat Ferdous became new champion in the 52kg weight of National Boxing Competition after defeating Afra Khandaker by 5-0 points in the final at the Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium in the capital on Thursday. Zinnat Ferdous is an expatriate boxer of United States of America, who for the first time took part in the National Boxing Competition in Bangladesh. Afra Khandaker was the defending champion in this event.
The Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium was jam-packed as a large number of spectators arrived at the stadium to watch the entertaining match between Zinnat Ferdous and Arfa Khandaker.
Zinnat Ferdous was comparatively attacking than Afra Khandaker. Zinnat was forceful and she had confidence when she took defensive position.
On the other hand, Afra Khandaker tried her level best to fight against Zinnat Ferdous.
But Zinnat Ferdous took the upper hand as she showed better performance than Afra Khandaker.
Afra Khandaker’s sister Afeida Khnadaker and their father and mother watched the important fight after sitting at the galleries. It may be mentioned that Afeida Khandaker is the Captain of Bangladesh Women’s Football team.
They inspired Afra Khandaker to overcome against Zinnat Ferdous but Zinnat Ferdous showed a better brand of boxing than Afra Khandaker and Zinnat won the match as she deserved it. Though Afra Khandaker total family supported her but it was not enough for her to win the match.
After the match, Zinnat Ferdous said, ” I played my own style and used my techniques to win the match.”
Afra Khandaker said, ” Zinnat Ferdous is a very good boxer. It was my new experience to play against her. She was very much attacker boxer. She had outstanding skill.”
