Joint training of Bangladesh and US Army concluded at Jalalabad Cantonment

A joint training of Bangladesh and US Army on counter-terrorism, peacekeeping, jungle operations, and explosives was held at Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet.
The training, which began on July 25, officially concluded on Wednesday (July 30) morning with a closing ceremony.
100 members of the army’s para-commando unit and 66 members of the Nevada National Guard under the US Army participated.
The chief guest was Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman, GOC of the 17th Infantry Division.
US Charge d’Affaires to Bangladesh Tracy Ann Jacobson was present as the chief guest.
Brigadier General Imrul Hasan, Chief of the Para-Commando Brigade of the Bangladesh Army, delivered a keynote speech at the beginning.
Then, a documentary on Operation Tiger Lights training was screened. Later, certificates were distributed among the participants of the training. The guests distributed certificates.
Then, the lead ex-planners, US Major Wistisen and Major Mahmudul Hasan, shared their training experiences.
In her speech as the chief guest, US Charge d’Affaires to Bangladesh, Tracy Ann Jacobson, said that the joint US-Bangladesh military exercise “Tiger Lightning” is a symbol of the mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States, which embodies the goals of the two countries in establishing security, peace and prosperity in the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific region.
Through this exercise, US soldiers are getting the opportunity to train with the Bangladesh Army, which is known for its extraordinary skills in peacekeeping in the world.
Bangladesh is always among the top 3 countries in the world in sending peacekeepers to the United Nations and ranks first in terms of quality, and 1800 female soldiers are also in these missions.
Tiger Lightning is part of a series of exercises. Currently, Tiger Shark is underway, where the Navy is participating with Special Forces, and Pacific Angel will be held with the Air Force later this year.
The US Ambassador signed the visitor book at the closing ceremony.
