The body of Faria Tasnim Jyoti, 30, who went missing after falling into an uncovered drain in Gazipur’s Tongi, was recovered after 36 hours.
The deceased Faria Taznim was daughter of late Oliullah Ahmed Babul of Baganpara village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
She was a resident of Dhaka’s Mirpur area and worked as a sales manager at Moni Trading Corporation.
Md Shahin Alam, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service, confirmed the matter to the media and said that the body was retrieved from a waterbody in Haydarabad area of Tongi around 9am.
Earlier victim Jyoti accidentally fell into the uncovered manhole in front of a hospital near Hossain Market on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 9pm on Sunday night.
Locals tried to rescue her but failed and later informed the fire service.
Nearly three days after the incident, rescue teams launched a fresh drive on Tuesday morning and recovered the body from a water body.
Md Iskandar Habibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Tongi West Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police, said police were actively involved in the search and assisted the Fire Service throughout the operation.
Meanwhile, the Gazipur City Corporation has formed an investigation committee to probe the incident.
