The Election Commission (EC) has transferred 71 officials as part of its preparations for the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
The transfer order, signed by Assistant Secretary Mohammad Shahidur Rahman on behalf of the President, was issued on Sunday. According to the directive, the officials must be relieved from their current duties by August 3. If not released by then, they will be considered transferred effective August 4.
Most of the officials affected are posted at the Upazila and Thana levels as election officers.
In separate appointments, Md Mosharraf Hossain, currently Assistant Director at the Election Training Institute in Dhaka, has been promoted to Assistant Secretary at the EC Secretariat. Meanwhile, Syeda Sadiqa Sultana, the Election Officer of Cumilla Adarsha Sadar Upazila, has been appointed Assistant Director at the same institute.
