IU students protest attack on NCP leaders

IU Correspondent :
Students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday blocked Khulna-Kushtia highway as part of the immediate reaction to the attack on NCP leaders at Gopalgonj. During the blockade, huge jams were seen on both sides of the road.
Around a hundred students gathered at the Zia Mor area at around 5:30pm and marched to the main entrance of the campus. Later, they blocked the highway for almost half an hour.
During the protest, students chanted many slogans including, ‘Why is my brother injured, Interim, give answer’, ‘Abu Sayeed-Mugdha, fight is not over yet’, ‘Down with Mujibism, long live the revolution’.
Later, students against discrimination leaders of the IU unit gave speeches. They demanded immediate action from the interim government against today’s attack on NCP leaders by Awami League supporters.
They further added, ‘since August 5, the Islamic University administration has been showing a pro-Awami League bias similar to that of Gopalganj. Those who raised slogans against students on July 4, have not yet faced any action from the administration. Immediate action must be taken against the opponents of the July movement.
Even at Islamic University, just like in Gopalganj, the symbols of fascism have not yet been destroyed. We urge the administration to remove these fascist symbols within the next 3 to 4 working days.”
