Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has said that until reforms and the implementation of the July Charter are ensured, they will not return home. He stated that the downfall of the fascist Hasina regime came through the sacrifice of the students and the people. There will be no place for any more fascist collaborators in this country.

He further said that no election will be accepted by the students and the people before the announcement of the July Charter.

Nahid Islam made these remarks on Thursday around 2:30 PM at a street rally following a protest march at Bhayna intersection in Magura town. Addressing the gathered crowd, Nahid Islam said: “Your sons gave their lives to end fascist rule. We will not hand over the reins of this country to any more occupiers, extortionists, or tender manipulators. Those who speak at the behest of foreign masters-we will defeat them politically.”

Speaking on elections and reforms, he said: “No election will be accepted by the students and the people before the July Charter is announced. The fascist Hasina and the Awami League must first face justice. If attempts are made to hold elections before punishing the killers, implementing reforms, and announcing the July Charter, a mass movement will once again be launched.”

Earlier, at 1:30 PM, NCP central leaders began a protest march in Magura on the anniversary of the July Uprising and with the pledge to build a new Bangladesh. The march started from the Upazila premises of Magura town, passed through Chourangi intersection and Dhaka Road, and ended with a street rally at Bhayna intersection.
