Bangladesh Cricket team will face Sri Lanka Cricket team in their first Twenty20 International (T20I) match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka today. The match will begin at 7:30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Litton Das will lead the Tigers as the captain, while Charith Asalanka will lead the hosts as the captain.
The game will be aired by private satellite channel Nagorik TV and private satellite sports channel T Sports.
Before today’s match, the Tigers and the Islanders faced each other in 17 T20I matches. Of them, Bangladesh won six games, while Sri Lanka recorded 11 victories.
Bangladesh lost in their last five matches in T20I. They tasted 1-2 defeat to the United Arab Emirates in UAE in May. After that they lost to Pakistan by 3-0. But last year they defeated West Indies in a T20I series.
Bangladesh batters had some problems in power-hitting in T20I format. After the UAE series, the batters worked hard in power-hitting.
After tasting a 99-run defeat to Sri Lanka in the last and final ODI, Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team Mehidy Hasan Miraz said, ” We threw our wickets after becoming set in the crease. So, we could not advance for a long time. We have to work in this matter. It is very much important for all formats (Test, ODI, T20I).”
There are lot of memorable performance for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh scored 215/5 against Sri Lanka in 2018 in Colombo and Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh could score above 200 runs against their opponents for seven times. Of them, Bangladesh earned twice against Sri Lanka.
Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman could not play against UAE and Pakistan. But today they can perform against Sri Lanka. So, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka with their full-fledged pace attack. So, it will help Bangladesh to show satisfactory performance against Sri Lanka.
