Entertainment Report:

A woman has filed a case in a Dhaka court against film actor and producer Monowar Hossain Dipjol and two others for allegedly throwing acid and beating her.

Dipjol said on social media on Tuesday that the woman’s allegations were false. The case was
filed with the intention of harassment.

This time the actor called the woman’s accusation unreasonable.

On the other hand, Rumana Islam Mukti, an executive member of the Film Artistes’ Association, took Dipjol’s side, and called for an end to
baseless allegations and harassment of artistes.

The woman, named Rasheda Akhtar, mentioned in her complaint that she was beaten up when she went to meet Dipjol at the Gabtoli cattle market in the capital on June 2. And acid was poured on her body. The next day, she woke up and realised what had
happened with the acid. Dipjol objected to that.

On Wednesday, Dipjol wrote on Facebook, “Strange things happen in this country. You said acid was given to your body – this is very worrying. And if after that happens you go back home and fall asleep, – is that reasonable? Besides, we saw that you poured kerosene on yourself! So what happened, was it simply a lack of caution, or some other kind of game?”

Dipjol also wrote, “We have respect for the law, so we hope that proper justice will be served through a fair investigation. I strongly demand the punishment of the woman and request that her accomplices be brought to justice.”
