Remittance inflow rises by 15.34pc in first 6 days of July
Business Report:
According to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bank (BB), remittance inflows recorded a remarkable 15.34 percent year-on-year growth in the first six days of July 2025, with expatriate Bangladeshis sending $427 million. In contrast, during the same period last year, the figure stood at $371 million. This continued strong momentum suggests the positive trend is likely to sustain in the coming months.
Bangladesh has witnessed an extraordinary surge in remittance inflows during the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25), with total receipts reaching an all-time high of $30.33 billion, marking a significant milestone in the country’s economic landscape. This record-breaking achievement reflects a robust year-on-year growth of over 26.8 percent, up from $23.9 billion received in the previous fiscal year, FY2023-24.
The surge in remittances has been consistent throughout FY2024-25. In June, the final month of the fiscal year, Bangladesh received $2.81 billion in remittances-an 11 percent increase compared to June of the previous fiscal year. The monthly breakdown of the remittance inflow shows a steady trend above the $2 billion mark since August 2024, with a notable peak in March when the country received $3.29 billion-the highest in any single month of the year.
The total remittance received between July 1, 2024, and June 28, 2025, amounted to $30.04 billion. This dramatic rise from the $23.28 billion recorded in FY2023-24 is a testament to both policy interventions and improved remittance channels.
