Tanvir Islam produced a sensational bowling performance, grabbing a five-wicket haul, as Bangladesh bounced back strongly to defeat Sri Lanka in the second ODI by 16 runs and level the three-match series 1-1 in Colombo.

Batting first, Bangladesh showed early promise despite a shaky start. After losing two wickets cheaply, Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Emom put together a steady partnership. Emom was aggressive during the powerplay and brought up his maiden fifty before falling to a brilliant googly from Wanindu Hasaranga.

The Sri Lankan seamers then used short deliveries to good effect, as Bangladesh slipped to 159/5. Hridoy went on to score a crucial half-century, and along with Jaker Ali, added some resistance. However, wickets continued to tumble, including Hridoy’s unfortunate run-out. Tanzim Hasan Sakib added some late runs to push Bangladesh’s total close to 250.

In reply, Sri Lanka struggled to build partnerships as Tanvir Islam ripped through their batting line-up with his left-arm spin. His fifer dismantled the middle and lower order, ensuring Bangladesh stayed firmly in control of the match.

Tanvir’s heroics handed Bangladesh a resounding win and set up an exciting decider in the third and final ODI.
