Staff Correspondent:
A travel ban has been imposed on Masud Alam, Managing Director of E-Learning & Earning Ltd., a company involved in employment creation through freelancing, and his wife Ayesha Siddika. Masud Alam is also the former president of the National Youth Council.
The order was issued today (Wednesday) by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain, according to Akhtarul Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The New Nation published an investigative report on this earlier. Link:https://dailynewnation.com/tk-300-crore-freelancing-project-sparks-nationwide-uproar-acc-investigation-uncovers-web-of-influence/
In an application seeking the travel ban, ACC Deputy Director Md. Saiduzzaman stated that Masud Alam is a close associate of former State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell. Taking advantage of this connection, Masud and his wife have allegedly amassed a large amount of illegal wealth through various irregularities and corrupt practices. The ACC is currently investigating the allegations against them.
The application also mentioned that during the course of the investigation, reliable sources indicated that the accused may attempt to leave the country at any time. Therefore, it is essential to impose a travel ban on them to prevent this.
