Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi said, we need to change our habits to protect the environment. All kinds of plastic products should be banned. To make this world habitable for the next generation green, we need to take care of it along with planting trees. He called on us to be aware of the dangers of plastic and protect future generations from its harmful effects.
He said these things as the chief guest at the discussion meeting and award distribution ceremony organized by the Department of Environment, Sylhet on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025 at the Shahi Eidgah District Shilpakala Academy in the city on Wednesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad presided over the discussion meeting, and SMP Additional Police Commissioner Md. Masud Rana was present as a special guest.
Md. Badrul Huda, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Sylhet, delivered the welcome speech at the event.
Dr. Farhana Raihan, Professor of the Forest and Environmental Sciences Department of Shabiprabi, presented the main article on the theme of the day.
After the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Environment Day with the theme of No More Plastic Pollution, prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions.
