Various allegations of harassment have been received against an influential deputy secretary and his people in Mogla Bazar under Dakshin Surma upazila Sylhet. He is trying to harass the family of Shah Rummanul Haque, a resident of Satighar village in Mogla Bazar, South Surma, in the district. The entire family is distraught due to their torture.
To protect them from all these false lawsuits and harassment, his elder brother Shah Enamul Haque, a resident of the UK, has sent an application to the Bangladesh High Commissioner, UK. Brother Shah Rummanul Haque, who is in the country, informed the countrymen about the whole matter by holding a press conference.
The name of the accused influential official is Md. Abdul Wahab Rashed. He is currently working as the Chief Executive Officer of Narsingdi District Council. He and his people have already forcibly occupied 45 percent of their cropland. Later, when they tried to occupy his house, Shah Rummanul Haque filed a title suit in the court. The suit is pending against 8 people, including Deputy Secretary Abdul Wahab Rashed. On March 8, in the presence of Abdul Wahab Rashed and his brother Abdul Wadud Shahed, their cousins, the ‘terrorist’ Abul Kashem Nahid, Harun Mia, nephews Maruf Ahmed, Mumin Mia, Al-Amin, Marwan Ahmed, cousins ​​Babna Begum, Lipi Begum, and cousin’s wife Machuma Begum, attacked his house with country-made weapons. At that time, they beat him, his wife, and his elderly mother, and looted 1 lakh taka in cash, 6 bhori of gold, BS original design, and necessary documents from the house. While leaving, they threatened to burn down the house if they did not surrender the land to them by filing a title suit. When they called 999, the Mogla Bazar Police Station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police reached the spot, rescued them and sent them to the hospital. While they were undergoing treatment in the hospital, the gang set fire to their betel garden the next day on March 9, causing extensive damage.
Shah Rummanul Haque filed a case with the Mogla Bazar Police Station of SMP in this regard. When Abdul Wahab Rashed abused his administrative power to pressure the police station, the officer-in-charge of the police station refused to accept the case.
Later, he filed a case in the Metropolitan Magistrate 3rd Court. But Rashed is threatening the witnesses of the incident with illegal money and using terrorists to not give their testimony.
On the orders of Abdul Wahab Rashed and Abdul Wadud Shahed, their people have been harassing them by filing false cases at different times. Later, these cases were proven false in the court.
Not only that, Rashed’s father Abdul Mannan Shah filed a case against Rummanul Haque’s father Maulana Shafiqul Bari in the village court to harass this family, which was proven false after the investigation. In continuation of this, Rashed’s uncle Abdul Hannan Dilu Mia Shah filed a case in the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on 14/09/2010 to harass Rummanul Haque, which the court acquitted Rumman due to lack of proper evidence.
On May 18, 2016, on the instructions of the influential Rashed, his cousin Kamal Ahmed filed a complaint with the Moghlabazar Police Station. Rumman was also acquitted from this complaint.
Similarly, Rashed’s nephews Maruf Ahmed and Rummanul Haque filed a complaint with the Moghlabazar Police Station, and Rummanul was also dismissed from it.
The influential Abdul Wahab Rashed and Abdul Wadud Shahed’s people occupied the railway land, changed the category, merged it with their own land, and built a paved road on the railway land.
During the conversation, Shah Enamul Haque said, Rashed’s various activities to harm my younger brother and my family who are in Bangladesh continue.
In this regard, he strongly demanded the administration to ensure the overall safety of his family and take legal action against Rashed for all kinds of crimes including unlimited corruption, abuse of power and arbitrariness.
