Court grants bail to singer Noble

City Desk:

A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to singer Mainul Ahsan Noble in a case filed against him for allegedly confining a girl at his Demra residence for seven months and raping her during that period.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub granted bail on a Tk1,000 bond after a hearing on the matter, defence counsel Md Monir Uddin told BSS.

Noble filed for bail on Sunday, and the court scheduled the hearing for Tuesday.

The court heard the matter in the presence of the survivor, whom Noble married at the main gate of Keraniganj Central Jail on Thursday under the supervision of the prison authorities.

The survivor, during Tuesday’s hearing, said she has no objection to Noble being granted bail.
The defence counsel said the case was filed due to a misunderstanding between Noble and the survivor.

They are now legally married, and the survivor has no objection to his release on bail.
Earlier, on Wednedsay, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter ordered the prison authorities to arrange the marriage with their consent and inform the court.

Police arrested Noble, who gained fame for his appearance on the Indian reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa,” from his Demra Staff Quarter home on May 20.
