A court on Monday imposed a travel ban on former foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and his wife Nuran Fatema over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports BSS. The court also ordered to freeze his nine bank accounts and 12 bank accounts of his wife over the same allegations. It also ordered to seize a SUV of the former minister.
The ACC earlier on April 6, filed two separate cases against the couple over amassment of illegal wealth of Tk6.63 crore and suspicious transactions of Tk722 crore. Earlier, ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam applied for a ban on the emigration of 10 former ministers and three members of parliament.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam conducted the hearing on behalf of the ACC. Apart from this, ACC Deputy Director Md Mostafizur Rahman applied for a ban on the emigration of eight former ministers and five members of parliament.
