Bangladesh, US reaffirm strategic cooperation

Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser, Dr Khalilur Rahman, held a high-level meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau at the US State Department in Washington, DC on Wednesday, as part of ongoing bilateral engagement between the two countries.
According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the talks covered a broad range of strategic and regional issues, including the protracted Rohingya refugee crisis, ongoing tariff negotiations, developments across South Asia, and Bangladesh’s current democratic transition.
Deputy Secretary Landau commended the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, highlighting its significance during this crucial phase of Bangladesh’s political evolution. He also reaffirmed Washington’s continued support for the country as it navigates its transition.
In a separate engagement, Dr Rahman met with Brendan Lynch, Assistant US Trade Representative, to discuss the prospects of a reciprocal tariff agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral trade relations.
Both sides described the talks as “fruitful,” reflecting growing momentum in economic cooperation and shared interest in strengthening strategic ties.
