BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has filed allegations of abduction and enforced disappearance against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
Salahuddin arrived at the ICT around 11:15 AM on Tuesday, accompanied by a BNP-backed legal team led by Barrister Kayser Kamal, the party’s Legal Affairs Secretary. The team submitted a copy of the complaint to Chief Prosecutor Advocate Md Tajul Islam.
The list of accused includes former Inspector Generals of Police Benazir Ahmed and Shahidul Haque, former Special Branch Chief Monirul Islam, ex-DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, and retired army officer Ziaul Ahsan.
Speaking to reporters, Salahuddin said, “The people demand justice—not just for the events of July and August, but for all enforced disappearances, killings, and torture under the previous regime. This is part of BNP’s commitment to justice.”
He called on other victims of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings to file their own complaints and urged the government to bolster the ICT’s resources to ensure a fair trial process.
Salahuddin himself had previously filed a complaint about his own disappearance. He went missing from Uttara on March 10, 2015, and resurfaced two months later in Shillong, India. He returned to Bangladesh on August 11, shortly after the Awami League government stepped down on August 5.
