The activity of poachers has increased in the depths of the Sundarbans. A special operation by the Forest Department has recovered 100 traps used for hunting deer.
On Monday (June 2), these traps were recovered from the Teker Canal area in the Sundarbans under the leadership of Anwar Hossain, Station Officer of the Kobadak Forest Station of the Sundarbans West Forest Division.
According to the Forest Department sources, the traps hidden inside the forest were identified during the operation based on secret information. However, no poachers could be arrested at that time.
Md. Anwar Hossain, Officer of the Kobadak Forest Station of the Sundarbans, said that poachers set various types of traps in the forest to hunt deer. Based on secret information, we conducted an operation in the Teker Canal area based on that information. During this time, approximately 100 meters of deer traps were recovered. It was not possible to arrest anyone at this time. However, legal proceedings are ongoing to identify those involved in deer hunting. He said that such operations will continue to protect the biodiversity of the forest.
