Md. Mojahidul Islam, founder of the Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) and a renowned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) reporter, has been awarded the “15 Years in ICT Journalism” Award. This prestigious recognition honors his outstanding contributions to the development of Bangladesh’s ICT sector over the past 15 years, including coverage of technology launches, industry trends, and policy changes.
The award celebrates exceptional reporting and storytelling, particularly highlighting work produced over the last fifteen years. It also recognizes the critical role of the media in shaping public understanding and holding those in power accountable.
Md. Mojahidul Islam’s extensive journalistic career spans a broad range of topics, including telecom policy, breaking news, investigative reporting, multimedia journalism, and global technology trends. His significant contributions have played a vital role in promoting Bangladesh as an emerging, technology-driven nation.
The award was presented by Belal Ahmed, founder of BIJF and Director of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB), along with co-founder Md. Razib Pervez, who also serves as a Director at Janata Bank Ltd. The ceremony took place at the BIJF office in Dhaka on 21 December 2017.
Founded in 2002, BIJF represents all leading daily, weekly, and monthly ICT publications, as well as various media platforms including web, digital, and electronic media. The forum aims to advance the ICT movement in Bangladesh and stimulate growth within the sector.
BIJF emphasizes three key areas: establishing unity among ICT journalists, enhancing their knowledge and professional integrity, and organizing ICT-related seminars and working papers on national and international issues. To date, BIJF has successfully conducted several skill development programs for ICT journalists and organized various national seminars, with “Media’s Role in the Information Society: Perspectives from Bangladesh” being one of the most impactful.
