The Climate-Smart Agricultural Technology Fair 2025, organized by the Upazila Agriculture Extension Department, was formally inaugurated on Tuesday morning (May 27) at the Mollahat Upazila Parishad premises in Bagerhat district.
The fair was presided over by Harekrishna Adhikari, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Mollahat, who also served as the president of the event. Ramesh Chandra Ghose, Acting Deputy Director of the Bagerhat District Agriculture Extension Department, attended the fair as the chief guest.
In his address, the chief guest emphasized, “If agriculture becomes smart, Bangladesh will become smart as well. We must spread the success of our economy to all sectors.
Modern technology must be integrated into agriculture, and we must continuously adapt to the changing global climate. Without adaptation, our agriculture will suffer, and so will the progress of our country. About half of our population is still involved in agricultural activities. Sudden weather changes, such as unseasonal rains, often damage crops severely. Farmers need timely information and guidance to minimize costs and maximize profits.”
The inaugural speech was delivered by Animesh Bala, Upazila Agriculture Officer, who also conducted the event. He highlighted the necessity and importance of organizing such fairs to raise awareness and share innovations in agriculture.
Among the other notable guests who spoke at the event were: Md. Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Mollahat Police Station, Mehedi Hasan, Additional Agriculture Officer Shewli Akhter, Agricultural Extension Officer, Shariful Islam Didar, Organizing Secretary, Mollahat Press Club, Md. Kabir Ahmed, Cultural Affairs Secretary, Mir Masud, Publicity Secretary, Officials from various departments, local public representatives, and farmers’ representatives were also present at the fair.
