Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Chaiful Islam said,The use of science-based modern agricultural technology has given a new momentum to the country’s agricultural productivity. It has added a new dimension to the national economy. The current government has created opportunities for establishing effective linkages for the development of the country’s agriculture, distributing agricultural inputs at fair prices, increasing investment in agricultural research, innovating and expanding new varieties and technologies of crops. As a result of innovating and introducing new varieties that are high-yielding and tolerant to climate change in the country, there has been diversification in the production of food grains, vegetables and fruits and the country has achieved unprecedented success in crop production. The country’s food security has been ensured. He said, various plans have already been adopted and implemented by adopting suitable agricultural technologies to bring the fallow lands of greater Sylhet under cultivation. As a result, the number of fallow lands in Sylhet has decreased significantly today. Many farmers and entrepreneurs in this region have focused on agriculture today.
