BCCI shifts final from Kolkata due to weather concerns. The IPL 2025 final will now be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. The decision came after a series of meetings held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday. The final was originally scheduled to take place in Kolkata but was moved due to weather risks.
Ahmedabad will not just host the final.

It will also stage Qualifier 2 on June 1. This gives the venue two of the most crucial games of the tournament. The decision was based on the need to avoid rain disruptions, which are expected in eastern India around that time.
The first two playoff games-Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator-are likely to be played at Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) on May 29 and May 30. These northern cities have lower chances of rain compared to Kolkata and other eastern cities.

Kolkata has a strong cricketing tradition and was in line to host the final. But with the onset of the monsoon season, BCCI decided not to take any risks. Ahmedabad, with its world-class stadium and dry climate in early June, emerged as the best alternative.
