Jabbar’s Bali Khela will be organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs from next year. In addition, the ministry will also be involved in organising another traditional game of Chattogram, boat racing.
This information was given by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mustafa Sarwar Faruqi at a press conference held at the Chattogram Circuit House on Monday. He said that Jabbar’s Bali Khela is a centennial event. It carries the tradition of Chatogram. We have spoken to the Bali Khela Celebration Committee.
From next year, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will be involved in organizing Jabbar’s Bali Khela. It will be linked to the calendar of the Ministry of Culture. Along with this, boat racing will also be added to the calendar. At this time, he requested the committee to organize boat racing on Pahela Boishakh. The advisor also said that different areas of Bangladesh have different cultural traditions.
The ministry is preparing a cultural calendar with the traditional cultures of the country. Through which one can stay connected with cultural activities throughout the year. The advisor said that various initiatives are being taken to develop the Zia Memorial Museum into a full-fledged museum.
He said that the Zia Memorial Museum was closed for 16 years. After taking charge, the budget of the museum has been doubled. Since it is a Zia Museum, the entire life of Ziaur Rahman will be preserved in this museum. This is a time-consuming matter. For this, research on Ziaur Rahman’s biography needs to be done and a curator needs to be appointed to inform about the museum properly. Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam and officials from various organizations were present at the press conference.
