Students protest demanding punishment for teacher

Students of the Borhanuddin Girls Secondary School in Borhanuddin of Bhola have staged a protest march demanding punishment for assistant teacher Raktim Chandra Sharma, who was accused of immoral activities with a student. At the same time, the school authorities have temporarily suspended the teacher accused in the incident. On Thursday, the students held a protest march on various important roads in Borhanuddin Municipality.
Earlier, on Wednesday afternoon, an agitated crowd saw the teacher in an objectionable situation with a student at the Sharma Computer Training Center owned by teacher Raktim Sharma in Howlader Market of the municipality, and pelted him with shoes and handed him over to the police. In addition to the tension in the area, the incident also sparked demands for justice against the teacher through social media. Teacher Raktim Sharma is the son of Satya Hari Sharma of Ward No. 7 of Pakshia Union of the upazila.
Locals also said that this teacher had done many such immoral activities before and got away with it. Therefore, they demanded exemplary punishment for this teacher. They also demanded the removal of the previous accused teacher.
School management committee president Khaleda Khanam said that an emergency meeting has been held in the school regarding this matter. In the meeting, it was decided to issue him a temporary suspension along with a show cause notice. In addition, a five-member investigation committee has been formed by the school to investigate the incident.
Borhanuddin Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Siddiqur Rahman said on Thursday that the accused teacher is still in police custody. The matter is still being investigated. Action will be taken as per the law after the investigation.
On Wednesday, multiple local sources informed that Raktim Chandra Sharma, a teacher of the mathematics department of the technical branch of Borhanuddin Girls Secondary School, trained students at the Computer Training Center in Howlader Market in Ward No. 6 of the municipality. On Wednesday morning, a Muslim student went to her computer center alone. After a long time, she and the student took a rickshaw to the market to bring flowers and biryani. At that time, locals went to the computer center and found the teacher and the student in an objectionable condition. Then they were detained inside the computer center. At that time, contraceptives and other materials were found inside the training center. Later, when the news spread, school and college students protested on the streets demanding justice, and the police came and tried to control the situation. The agitated crowd forced teacher Raktim Sharma to put a garland of shoes on him and put him in a police van.
