Jahangir Kabir beset with hundreds of fake FB pages
Staff Reporter :
Dr. Jahangir Kabir, a prominent health advocate, is currently facing a troubling situation involving hundreds of fake Facebook pages created using his name-some even imitating the blue verification badge of his official profile.
These counterfeit pages mimic his voice and persona to promote a range of legal and illegal drugs, including sexual enhancers, diabetes medications, weight loss supplements, and remedies for allergies, piles, and asthma.
The situation intensified after a lawyer issued a legal notice to Dr. Kabir andDr. Tasnim Zara, accusing them of spreading obscene content-only to later withdraw the notice upon discovering the pages were fraudulent.
In response to the scam, Facebook has deactivated Dr. Kabir’s verified page, significantly hindering his ability to communicate directly with the public about the matter. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, at his office in the capital, Dr. Kabir denounced the scam.
“Dishonest groups are misusing my name to sell unregulated medicines. With my verified page taken down, I’ve issued warnings through my Facebook ID and YouTube channel and filed a general diary with the police,” he said.
Dr. Kabir clarified that he does not sell any form of medicine. “My mission is to promote health without drugs-through lifestyle changes like nutritious food, fasting, mental peace, and adequate sleep. This method has helped millions, especially those with diabetes, achieve better health,” he explained.
He further highlighted that his organization promotes natural, chemical-free “superfoods” such as black rice, quinoa, coconut oil, organic turmeric, and chia seeds-but does not sell pharmaceutical products.
“We believe food is medicine,” Dr. Kabir stated, noting that their services aim to prevent 60-70 different diseases. All treatments are free, with only tests and specific foods requiring payment.
He cautioned that fraudsters are taking advantage of public trust in his drug-free philosophy.
“If we don’t take action, this scam will only escalate. Let me be clear: Dr. Jahangir Kabir does not sell any medicines,” he said, urging the public to remain alert and discerning.
