Shankha Dasgupta’s debut feature film ‘Priyo Maloti’ has been honoured with the Audience Award at the 8th London Bengali Film Festival, said a press release.
In the festival, held from April 22 to 27 this year, ‘Priyo Maloti’ received an enthusiastic response from viewers.
Announcing the news on social media, director Shankha Dasgupta wrote, “Thrilled to share that ‘Priyo Maloti’ has won the Audience Award at the 8th London Bengali Film Festival! Grateful to everyone who believed in our story – your love and support made this possible. Here’s to creating more stories that unite hearts across borders.”
The film was previously screened at the festival’s opening ceremony
on April 22 at Barbican Cinema.
Based on real-life events, ‘Priyo Maloti’ is a deeply moving drama that tells the story of a pregnant woman whose life takes a sudden and dramatic turn.
The cast features popular actress Mehazabien Chowdhury alongside actors Nader Chowdhury, Azad Abul Kalam, Momena Chowdhury, Somu Chowdhury, Anisul Haque Borun, Shahjahan Samrat, and Rizvi Rizu, among others.
