Legal notice issued against NCP leader Jara

A legal notice has been served seeking punitive actions against Dr. Jahangir Kabir and Dr. Tasnim Jara, senior joint member secretary of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), for allegedly spreading obscene and pornographic content through social media and online platforms.
The notice, sent on Thursday (April 24) by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab, was addressed to top government officials, including the Secretaries of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Law. It was also sent to the Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Inspector General of Police.
Filed on behalf of the human rights organization Law and Life Foundation Trust and Supreme Court lawyers Bayejid Hossain and Naeem Sardar, the notice highlights the growing concerns over the impact of online obscenity on public morality and social values.
According to the notice, several individuals, including Dr. Jahangir Kabir and Dr. Tasnim Jara, have been allegedly using platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Likee to promote sexually suggestive products and content under the guise of health advice. These activities, it claimed, are contributing to the spread of obscenity and eroding social and family values across the country.
It also mentions that various celebrities and media personalities are promoting obscene content and advertisements on their personal social media accounts in exchange for money. The notice alleges that some doctors are using explicit advertisements to attract public attention and boost sales of certain medicines and health products.
The legal notice warns that if no action is taken immediately, the Law and Life Foundation will file a public interest writ petition with the High Court to ensure appropriate legal measures against those involved.
