Gold trader Arav Khan sentenced to life in prison

A Dhaka court has sentenced eight individuals, including gold trader and Dubai-based fugitive Rabiul Islam, also known as Arav Khan, to life imprisonment for the murder of Inspector Mamun Imran Khan of the police’s Special Branch (SB).
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib delivered the verdict on Thursday in the case, which has been ongoing for seven years.
The other convicts are Arav’s wife Suraiya Akhter Keya (21), Rahmat Ullah (35), Swapan Sarkar (39), Didar Pathan (21), Mizan Sheikh (21), Atiq Hasan alias Dilu Sheikh (21), and Sarwar Hossain (23).
Arav and Keya remain on the run. While Rahmat Ullah and Sarwar Hossain, who were previously out on bail, appeared in court for the verdict, the remaining four convicts were brought from jail.
Following the ruling, arrest warrants were issued for all the convicts, and the six present were taken into custody. Warrants have also been issued for Arav and his wife.
