A youth named Mehedi Hasan Rakib (25) was killed in a clash between two groups over land cutting in Gafargaon, Mymensingh. Another youth named Chabid was shot in the incident. The incident took place on Monday night in Talli village of Niguari union under Pagla police station of the upazila.
The deceased Mehedi Hasan Rakib is the son of Mojibur Rahman of Talli Nama Para village.
According to local and police sources, Yasin had a dispute with the deceased Mehedi Hasan Rakib over sand mining.
The two sides clashed over land cutting around 10 pm on Monday. Mehedi Hasan Rakib was beaten and hacked to death by people from Yasin’s group in the clash.
Another person named Chabid was shot in the incident. He was later sent to the hospital for treatment.
Pagla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ferdous Alam said, “Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. The body has been recovered.
Legal action is under process in this incident,” the OC also said.
