Two rice-laden ships carrying some 48,750metric tons of Atap and Boiled rice have arrived at Chattogram Port.
Out of the two consignments of rice, some 26,250 metric tons of rice camefrom Pakistan while 22,500 metric tons of rice was imported from India.
Gyanpriyo Bidurshi Chakma, official of the movement and storage wing of the Directorate General of Food, informed that these two ships carrying rice have anchored at Silo Jetty at Chattogram Port and other jetty adjacent to Karnafuli Fertiliser Company (KAFCO).
The rice-laden ship carrying the Pakistani flag titled “MV Marium’ made its berth at Silo Jetty yesterday carrying 26,250 metric tons of Atap rice.
On the other hand, the rice-laden ship carrying the Indian flag named ‘MV Tanais Dream’ also made its berth at a jetty adjacent to KAFCO yesterday carrying some 22,500 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice.
Gyanpriyo Bidurshi Chakma said the physical analysis of the collected rice from Pakistan has already been completed while its unloading operation has already been started.
On the other hand, the sample of rice came from India has been collected.
Earlier on March 12, some 38,880 metric tons of imported rice came from India and Vietnam. Prior to this, some 6,000 metric tons of boiled rice was imported from India on March 8 through international tender.
