Human chain and sit-in programs were held in protest against the plan to transfer the National Identity Card (NID) service from the Independent Election Commission (EC) to the new statutory commission.
On Thursday, officers and employees of all levels of the regional and district election officers’ joined the programme held at Love Lane intersection under the initiative of the Chattagram Regional Election Officer’s Office under the chairmanship of Chattagram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury and moderated by Senior District Election Officer Mohammad Bashir Ahmed.
At the time, election officials said that the attempt to take the National Identity Card (NID) from the Bangladesh Election Commission to a new commission was a conspiracy hatched by the organizers and con artists of the night vote.
We fear that the same situation will make the coming days more unstable. 35 or more data did not come to the Election Commission as a bonus. This is the result of the hard work of the officers and employees of the Bangladesh Election Commission.
The preparation of voter lists is the constitutional responsibility of the Bangladesh Election Commission. If all the data warehouses are to be consolidated and brought under an independent authority, then it is natural that the Bangladesh Election Commission is considered the best constitutional and strong national platform.
