The Bangladesh Administrative Service Association (BASA) strongly condemned the attack on the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) headquarters by a group of unruly individuals on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The disorderly persons held the BSEC chairman and other officials hostage for nearly four hours and subjected them to physical assault.

Law enforcement authorities later intervened, rescuing the detained officials and controlling the situation.

The BASA stated in a press release that the perpetrators must be swiftly brought to justice. The organization emphasized that such disorderly behavior is illegal and poses a significant threat to administrative operations.

In a joint statement, the association’s General Secretary Shafiul Azim and President Nazrul Islam said, “We expect the administration and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to prevent any recurrence of such incidents in the future.”

Government officials have expressed deep concern over the attack and called for stricter security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
