Newly appointed seven members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) took their oath on Sunday.
The ceremony took place at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court at 11:15 AM, with Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed administering the oath.
The ceremony was conducted by the Registrar General, Dr. Aziz Ahmad Bhuiyan.
Earlier, on February 18, under the authority provided by Article 138(1) of the Constitution, the President appointed the new members.
The newly appointed members are: Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain from Dhaka University, Professor Arfina Osman from Dhaka University, Professor Dr. ATM Farid Uddin, a BCS Health
cadre official, Brigadier General (Retd.) Mohammad Anwarul Islam, (Retd) Additional Inspector General of Police Mohammad Munir Hossain, Professor Shahinaz Sultana from Bangladesh Agricultural University,(Retd) Foreign Service official Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury.
According to Article 139(1) of the Constitution, they will remain members of the PSC for five years from the date of assuming office, or until they reach 65 years of age, whichever comes first.
With this appointment, the total number of members in the PSC has increased to 15, with Professor Mobasher Monem serving as the Chairman.
