Chattagram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin said, the main purpose of this day is to encourage citizens to vote. The promise we have made to hold fair elections must be fulfilled from our own place. The practice of voting is very old in our country. The process of electing a king by voting has been going on since the time of India.
The people of this country elected a king by voting for Raja Gopal and he ruled this town for almost 400 years. Electing a king by voting in a democratic process is a very old system in our country. We have to revive this process. We have to commit to giving a fair election to the people of the country under any conditions, in any situation.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the National Voters’ Day discussion meeting organized by the Regional Election Officer’s office at the conference room of the Chattagram Circuit House on Sunday. Chattagram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury presided over the discussion meeting on National Voters’ Day and Senior District Election Officer Mohammad Bashir Ahmed moderated the discussion meeting on National Voters’ Day.
