AIUB’s 22nd convocation held

The 22nd Convocation Ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on Saturday, at AIUB’s permanent campus in Kuril, Dhaka. His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Shahabuddin, the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of AIUB, kindly authorized Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, to preside over the ceremony and confer degrees upon the graduating students. Prof. Dr. SMA Faiz, Honorable Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, attended as the Special Guest. The convocation was graced by Prof. Dr. Salimullah Khan, a writer, scholar, and recipient of the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2024, who served as the Convocation Speaker. Ms. Nadia Anwar, Chairman and Founder Member of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, also delivered speeches on this occasion.

A total of 2,547 graduates who successfully completed all academic requirements in various disciplines of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs were conferred degrees at AIUB’s 22nd Convocation. Medals were awarded in different categories to meritorious students in recognition of their academic achievements and excellence as follows: Chancellor’s Gold Medal – 3, Dr. Anwarul Abedin Leadership Award – 20, Vice-Chancellor’s Award – 23, Summa Cum Laude (Gold Medal) – 79, Magna Cum Laude (Silver Medal) – 128, and Cum Laude (Bronze Medal) – 39.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Honorable Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, congratulated the new graduates.

He stated that education is a powerful tool for ensuring equality. One can earn money without education, but with education, no one can take it away from you. Education and experience cannot be stolen.

Graduates should first take care of their families, be mindful of their country, and be compassionate toward others. The quality and sincerity of teachers are extremely important. He thanked AIUB for successfully achieving this.
