Everyone’s eyes will be caught when they see the wonderful creation of nature, the yellow mustard plants swaying across the horizon. Anyone’s heart will be swayed. When the yellow mustard flowers of the mustard fields in Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensingh sway in the wind, it seems like they are welcoming passers-by on the road.
And everyone is fascinated by it. The yellow beauty of mustard flowers fascinates not only people but also the green fields of Bengal, bringing a smile to the faces of farmers.
Mustard flowers, mustard flowers, swinging in the wind, frosty, they move, in the girl’s ear, in a eautiful color, they play, mustard flowers, mustard flowers. Poet Ruhul Amin Roudra is a burning proof in his poem ‘Sarshe Phul’.
Rural poet Jasim Uddin wrote in his upcoming poem – If you go a little further, you can eat mustard, as much as I like you, that yellow bed of the immortal is spread across the horizon.
The fields of crops in the upazila are covered with yellow mustard flowers as far as the horizon. Yellow mustard flowers are swaying in the cold winter wind. Just as the fields are buzzing with bees in the
yellow kingdom of mustard flowers, the smiles of joy have appeared on the faces of farmers at the prospect of bumper yields. It is as if the farmers are dreaming with the yellow smile of mustard.
Gafargaon Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shakura Nanni said that this season, the target of mustard cultivation in 15 unions including the char areas in Gafargaon Upazila has been set at 2,000 hectares.
However, 2,887 hectares of land have been cultivated, exceeding the target. In addition, mustard yield in the upazila has also been quite good. He further said that mustard cultivation has
increased as a result of various training and incentives. Producing mustard increases the fertility of the land, saves urea fertilizer, and honey can be produced from mustard fields.
The demand for edible oil increases, and mustard dregs are beneficial for organic fertilizer and cow fodder. Butterflies and bees enhance the beauty of mustard fields. In winter, mustard fields can be seen in the fields and pastures of the village.
