Kishoreganj patient dies due to doctor’s negligence

A patient has died due to negligence during a cesarean section on Wednesday night at Lab Aid General Hospital in the town.
The deceased woman’s name is Aklima Akhter (34), wife of Alam Hasan, a vegetable trader.
The accused doctor’s name is Dr. Tabassum Ferdous. She is a gynecologist, infertility and gynecology doctor and surgeon at the hospital.
According to local sources, Aklima Akhter was taken to Lab Aid General Hospital on Wednesday to deliver her baby by her husband and relatives. At that time, the doctors on duty at the hospital advised the patient to undergo an emergency cesarean section. Aklima gave birth to her baby after being taken for a cesarean section. Meanwhile, she was on her way to death by then.
The hospital authorities said that the bleeding was not stopping after the cesarean section. It was not possible to stitch the cut in the abdomen in any way. Before the patient’s relatives realized anything, the hospital authorities themselves hired an ambulance and quickly took the patient to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH)
She died there due to excessive bleeding.
Victim’s husband Alam Hasan , said, “On the advice of a relative, I brought my wife to the Lab Aid Hospital for a cesarean section. I went there and spoke to the doctors and hospital staff. This was my wife’s fourth cesarean. They said there was no problem.
I told the doctors and hospital staff, but they still didn’t pay any attention. They didn’t tell me that they couldn’t do it. Due to their negligence, my wife died of hemorrhage. When the hemorrhage started, hospital director Harun Or Rashid said, “After Aklima was admitted, all kinds of tests were done on her. We have no problem. All our documents are in order. The doctor has no problem. This doctor performed more operations. This is normal when performing operations. We tried, but after the operation, the bleeding did not stop, so we sent Aklima to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. She died there.”
The allegation is that the doctor’s surname, Dr. Tabassum Ferdous, is false. At the same time, he has not obtained the degree from the government to perform a cesarean section.
The hospital chamber has the name Dr. Tabassum Ferdous written on it. She is MBBS, DMU (Ultrasonogram), PGT (Gynecology and Obstetrics), former Medical Officer, Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. She is Honorary Medical Officer, Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital, Kishoreganj.
When asked whether Dr. Tabassum Ferdous is working as an honorary medical officer at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital, the hospital’s director Dr. Helish Ranjan Sarkar said, “They don’t have any doctor working here by that name. The name has been used fraudulently. He has demanded justice from the higher authorities regarding this matter. This is a big fraud. He will talk about the matter.”
Dr. Hellish also said, ‘I think it was better for Dr. Tabassum not to perform a cesarean. It was not right for her to perform a cesarean, nor should she. Because of that experience and because she is not approved by the government.’
Regarding the complaint, Dr. Tabassum was contacted on the number given on her visiting card, but it was not possible to speak to her.
Civil Surgeon of Kishoreganj, dr. Saiful Islam said, If we receive a complaint, we will investigate and take action.”
