Importance of transparency in microfinance dev

RANGPUR: Executive Vice Chairman of Microfinance Regulatory Authority Prof Dr Mohammad Helal Uddin speaks at a 'Public Hearing' organised by the non-governmental development organization RDRS Bangladesh in the city on Thursday.

Microfinance Regulatory Authority (MRA) Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) Professor Dr. Mohammad Helal Uddin said, ‘In the future, children of microfinance clients will be given priority in getting jobs in microfinance institutions.’
He made this remark while participating in the ‘Public Hearing’ and ‘Public Information Meeting on Right to Information’ held in Kishoreganj, Nilphamari as part of the ‘Exchange of Views with Microfinance Officers’ and inspection of activities organised by the non-governmental development organization RDRS Bangladesh on Thursday at the initiative of MRA. He spoke directly to the microfinance members of RDRS present at the ‘Public Hearing’ programme and inquired about how microfinance activities are affecting their lives and answered various questions.
RDRS Executive Director Tapan Kumar Karmakar drew the attention of the MRA authorities and said that it would be good to introduce some alternative services for members in addition to the conventional scholarships. He told the members that our existence depends on your existence; therefore, your welfare is our desire.
Various issues were raised in front of the 50 female members and 4 male members present in the ‘Public Information Meeting’ regarding the ‘Right to Information Act-2009’. Also present at the event were MMRA Director Md. Shahidul Islam, Joint Directors Ranjit Kumar Sarkar and Md. Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Directors Md. Ujjwal Ali and Rabiul Islam.
RDRS Director (Microfinance) Tariq Saeed Harun, Head (Microfinance) Robin Chandra Mandal and other concerned officials participated in the event.
