Fahim powers Barishal to achieve massive victory in BPL Cricket

A superb five-wicket haul by Faheem Ashraf powered Fortune Barishal to achieve a massive eight-wicket victory over Sylhet Strikers in their match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Sunday. Faheem Ashraf bowled extremely well and finished his spell as 3.1-0-7-5. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Fortune Barishal have taken place in the last four. Barishal collected 14 points from nine matches, while Sylhet Strikers remained with four points from 10 outings.
Chasing Sylhet’s fragile total of 116 off 18.1 overs, Barishal sailed home scoring 120 for the loss of two wickets when they had 24 balls to spare.
Barishal lost their early two wickets for 39 runs.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and second-down Mushfiqur Rahim guided their team to reach the winning spot scoring together 81 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership.
Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten with 52 runs. His 51-ball captain’s knock was laced with six fours.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 42 runs. He hit one six and four fours in his 30-ball innings.
Sumon Khan and Nahidul Islam took one wicket each for 17 and 24 runs respectively.
Sylhet Strikers faced an early disaster as they lost their five wickets for 46 runs. Second-down Ahsan Bhatti and fifth-down Jaker Ali contributed together 32 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Ahsan Bhatti was caught by Mahmudullah Riyad off Mohammad Nabi when Sylhet’s score was 78 for the loss of six wickets. Ahsan Bhatti made 28 from 29 deliveries featuring two sixes and one four.
After Ahsan Bhatti’s dismissal, Sylhet failed to build any notable partnership.
Jaker Ali scored 24 from 19 balls including three fours and a sixer.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Ariful Haque were the other two batters who reached double digit figures scoring 13 and 12 runs respectrively.
James Fuller and Mohammad Nabi captured two wickets each instead of 23 and 26 runs respectively, while Rishad Hossain picked up one wicket giving 24 runs.
