Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Thursday said the interim government has emerged from unity, emphasising that unity is the nation’s strength.

He made these remarks during his opening speech at the all-party meeting for drafting the July Proclamation at the city’s Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.

Dr Yunus said the spirit of July 5 was one of unity. “We were born in unity, and unity is our strength. This government was born out of that unity.”

The all-party meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, began after 4pm on Thursday. The chief adviser entered the venue at around 4:17pm and his convoy was seen leaving at 5:54pm after the meeting ended.

Representatives from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Ganatantra Mancha, Rastro Songskar Andolon, Gana Adhikar Parishad, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, and other political parties participated. However, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) opted out of the meeting.

Earlier, at a press briefing on Tuesday, Adviser Mahfuz Alam had announced that the all-party meeting with the chief adviser will be held at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.

The July Proclamation is a proposed declaration intended to consolidate the unity, anti-fascist spirit, and desire for state reform that emerged during the July uprising.
