A day-long free healthcare camp was organised at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The event, held at the university’s Independence Memorial Ground, was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, who emphasised the importance of medical tests and doctor consultations for maintaining good health. “This initiative allows our university’s teachers, students, officers, and employees to access free medical services, which is a commendable effort. Such arrangements should continue in the future,” the Vice-Chancellor remarked during the inauguration ceremony.
The healthcare camp, running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, was organised by the Berobi administration in collaboration with the Hypertension and Research Center of Rangpur. The services provided included diabetes and blood pressure testing, weight and height measurement, diagnosis of diabetes and high blood pressure, immediate treatment, and educational sessions on lifestyle management for patients with these conditions.
Medical books were also distributed as part of the camp’s registration process.
Key attendees included Prof. Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain, founder and executive director of the Hypertension and Research Center and former principal of Rangpur Medical College, and Prof. Dr. Sarwar Jahan, also a former principal of Rangpur Medical College. Additionally, Dr. Md. Ferdous Rahman, the university’s proctor, Md. Masud Rana, director of the Transport Pool, and Dr. A. M. M. Shahriar, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Berobi Medical Center, were present alongside other doctors and officials.
The camp provided vital healthcare support and raised awareness among the university community about managing chronic health conditions effectively.
