Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallik has warned that identified terrorists, extortionists, and robbers are exploiting the current situation, but assured the public that law enforcement is resolute in bringing them to justice.

Speaking at a press briefing at the DMP Media Center on Tuesday, Rezaul Karim highlighted the intensified efforts to apprehend criminals, including notorious individuals like Picchi Helal and Imon, both of whom are implicated in murder and mugging cases.

The DB Chief pointed to a recent attack on two businessmen in the Elephant Road area, where Imon was named as the prime suspect. “Criminals like these will not escape the law. Our efforts are ongoing, and they will be arrested soon,” he stated.

Rezaul Karim assured that police are determined to crack down on illegal hoarders, extortionists, robbers, and drug dealers. “Police will act with an iron fist to eliminate such elements. Intelligence surveillance has been heightened across the capital and beyond. Extortionists and muggers have no place in this country,” he emphasized.

In the last 24 hours alone, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested 27 individuals and recovered firearms, including foreign pistols, magazines, and ammunition.

Rezaul Karim reiterated his commitment to justice, stating, “I am not afraid of any threat while bringing criminals to justice. I have always served the country and its people with integrity and will continue to do so.”

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to support law enforcement’s efforts to maintain peace and order.
