A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh and Pakistan to import Atap rice on a Government-to-Government (G2G) basis.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Food signed the MoU at the Ministry of Food’s meeting room at the Secretariat on Tuesday, reads a press release.
The MoU is expected to contribute to stabilising the domestic rice market and strengthen economic and trade relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
TCP Chairman Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah and Directorate of Food’s Director General Md Abdul Khalek signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Food Secretary Mohammad Masudul Hasan, Special Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce Shakeel Ahmed, and High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof, among others were present during the signing.
