Chittagong Kings posted an easy 30-run victory over Sylhet Strikers in their match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Put into bat first, Chittagong Kings scored a massive 203 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Sylhet Strikers to 173 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Chittagong Kings made a good start with two openers Usman Khan and Parvez Hossain Emon put on together 32 runs in the opening stand before Emon (7) was caught by Nahiduzzaman off Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
After Emon’s dismissal, Usman Khan and Graham Clark built a notable partnership adding together 68 runs in the second wicket stand before Usman Khan was caught by Tanzim Hasan Sakib off Ariful Haque when Chittagong’s total was 100 for the loss of two wickets.
Usman Khan hammered a quick-fire 53. His 35-ball innings was studded with eight fours and a sixer.
After Usman’s departure, Graham Clark and Mohammad Mithun scored together 48 runs for the third wicket partnership before Clark was caught by Ariful Haque off Nahidul Islam when Chittagong’s score was 148 for the loss of three wickets.
Clark notched up a hurricane 60. His 33-ball knock was ornamented with five sixes and three fours. Clark was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mithun (28) was caught by Rony Talukdar off Rubel Mia when Chittagong’s total was 165 for the loss of four wickets.
Haider Ali remained unbeaten with 42 runs. He hit three sixes and four fours in his 18-ball innings.
Sakib captured a pair of wickets instead of 38 runs, while Ariful Haque, Nahidul Islam and Rubel Mia took one wicket apiece.
Sylhet Strikers had a sorrow start as opener Paul Stirling (0) was caught by Shamim Hossain off Nabil Samad when Sylhet’s total was just one.
Rony Talukdar and Zakir Hasan added together 35 runs in the second wicket stand before Zakir (25) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mohammad Mithun off Mohammad Wasim when Sylhet’s score was 36 for the loss of two wickets.
George Munsey and Jaker Ali built a notable partnership scoring together 62 runs in the five-wicket stand before George was caught at the extra cover by Usman Khan off Khaled Ahmed when Sylhet’s total was 126 for the loss of five wickets.
Munsey cracked a marvelous 52. He hit four sixes and four fours in his 37-ball innings.
Jaker Ali remained unbeaten with 47. He struck four sixes and three fours in his 23-ball knock.
Mohammad Wasim captured three wickets in the space of 25 runs, while Aliss Islam bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 36 runs.
Nabil Samad, Khaled Ahmed and Shoriful Islam got one wicket each.
