Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Cricket team edged past Sri Lanka Under-19 Women’s Cricket team by four wickets in their third T20 match at Surrey Village Cricket Ground in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Earlier, Bangladesh women lost to Sri Lanka women in the two T20 matches of the four-match T20 series. Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the last T20 match today at the same venue. Today’s match is do-or-die match for Bangladesh if they want to avoid the series defeat. Bangladesh have to win in today’s match to level the four-match series.

Batting first Sri Lanka piled up a fighting total of 109 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh romped home making 113 runs for the loss of six wickets when they had only two balls to spare.

Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Eva was dismissed for naught when the Junior Tigresses score was only zero.

One-down Sumaiya Akhter (0) was dismissed when Bangladesh failed to open their account.
After dismissal of Sumaiya, opener Fahomida Choya and second-down Sadia Islam repaired the damage contributing together 43 runs in the third wicket stand before Sadia Islam was dismissed when Bangladesh’s total was 43 for the loss of three wickets.

Sadia Islam made 24 from 28 deliveries featuring one four and one six.
After Sadia’s departure, Sumaiya and Fahomida Choya built another remarkable partnership adding together 33 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Fahomida Choya was run out by Manudi Nanayakkara when the Junior Tigresses’ score was 76 for the loss of four wickets.

Fahomida Choya top-scored with 38 runs. She hit four fours in her 42-ball innings.
Sumaiya (14) was dismissed by Munasighe when Bangladesh’s total was 87 for the loss of five wickets.

Afia Ashima remained unbeaten with 26 runs. She hit three fours in her 18-ball innings. Afia played a vital role to reach the victory target.

Rashmika Sewwandi and Shashini Gimhani bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 17 and 22 runs respectively. Besides, Munasinghe took one wicket.

Earlier, Hiruni Hansika made 24 using 19 deliveries, while Shashini Gimhani scored 14 runs capitalizing just seven balls.
