Independent Investigation Commission’s chief Major General (retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman said that the BDR revolt was not to realise specific demands but was aimed at weakening Bangladesh.

“We’ll work impartially and publish the report on the Pilkhana massacre within three months after a transparent investigation. The then prime minister Sheikh Hasina will also be questioned,” he said at a views-exchange meeting in the capital city on Monday.

He however, requested the people to have faith in the commission. “Either Sheikh Hasina will contact the Indian High Commission and come and talk, or our team will go there and interview her,” he said. General Rahman also called for providing evidence of India’s alleged involvement in the massacre.

Earlier, 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in Pilkhana on February 25-26, 2009. Fifty-five others survived horrific torture.

Hasina’s ouster on August 5 last year paved the way for a fresh investigation into the massacre. The interim government formed a seven-member Independent Investigation Commission in December.

The children of the martyrs’ families said that the massacre was an attack on sovereignty and called for unveiling the truth through a fair investigation.
