President Mohammad Shahabuddin has directed an inquiry into the allegations raised against certain judges of the Supreme Court, ensuring accountability and transparency within the judiciary.
The Supreme Court administration issued a notice providing this information. According to the notice, the Supreme Judicial Council will begin the investigation next week.
The president issued this directive in accordance with Article 96 of the Constitution. However, the Supreme Court administration has not specified the exact number of judges against whom the investigation has been authorised and no information regarding the identities of the judges has been disclosed.
On December 15, The Supreme Judicial Council led by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed conducted a preliminary inquiry into the allegations of misconduct against several high court judges and sent the related report to the president.
The report of the judges who have completed the investigation, along with the recommendations of the Supreme Judicial Council, has been sent to the president. As per the procedure, the president will implement the recommendations of the Supreme Judicial Council.
