Bangladesh Bank (BB) has announced a relaxation of the foreign exchange release limit for individuals requiring medical treatment abroad due to injuries sustained during the July uprising.
The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of the central bank issued a circular on Tuesday outlining the decision.
The circular states: “The limit of $10,000 or equivalent is hereby relaxed for individuals seeking medical treatment abroad who were injured in the Students-People’s Uprising – July 2024 Revolution.”
In this context, Authorised Dealers (ADs) are permitted to release foreign exchange based on estimations. Transactions may also be conducted through international card channels in addition to the banking system, the circular added.
It further emphasised that all other existing regulations and instructions regarding foreign exchange transactions remain unchanged.
